Do you want to work in Romania and have the citizenship of a state outside the European Union and the European Economic Area?
 
You need to find an employer and support the evidence required by it. If he decides to hire you, he will get a notice of employment.
You can be employed in Romania by a single employer, natural or legal person.
The employer will obtain the employment permit from the territorial formations of the General Inspectorate for Immigration in the county where it has its registered office. For this, he will submit a series of documents.
 
Conditions for obtaining the approval
If you do not have Romanian citizenship or the citizenship of another member state of the European Union or of the European Economic Area, you can work in Romania, with a notice of employment, if the following conditions are met:
• Vacancies cannot be filled by Romanian citizens, EU / EEA member states or permanent residents in Romania;
• Meet the special conditions of professional training, experience in activity and authorization;
• Prove that you are medically fit to perform the activity;
• You do not have a criminal record that is incompatible with the activity that you carry out or are going to carry out on the Romanian territory;
• You are part of the annual quota approved by Government Decision;
• The employer has paid up to date the obligations to the state budget;
• The employer carries out activities compatible with the position for which the employment of the foreigner is requested;
• The employer / beneficiary of services has not been sanctioned for undeclared work or illegal employment, in the last 6 months prior to the settlement of the application in the case of permanent / seasonal / trainees / cross-border / highly qualified / au pair / posted / ICT.
 
The provisions of point no. 1 above if you fall into the following categories:
• you hold the position of administrator in a foreign-owned company and you are the only person appointed to this position;
• you are a professional athlete and you have proof that you have carried out a similar activity in another country;
• request an employment permit for cross-border workers;
• request a job permit for seasonal workers;
 
 
CATEGORIES OF WORKERS
Depending on the type of activity you want to carry out in Romania, you can hire as:
  • permanent worker –
  • trainee worker –
  • seasonal worker –
  • cross-border worker
  • highly skilled worker –
  • posted worker –
  • ICT worker (person transferred within the same company)
  • au pair worker.
After obtaining the work permit, the employer must send you this document, and you will obtain a long-stay visa for employment / secondment from the diplomatic missions or consular offices of Romania.
